Two years have passed since I started this project and things have not become easier. Now we have an international financial crisis, and a national security crisis (in Mexico). With a family, a job that consumed up to 60 hours a week, and so mucho other things to do, i just came short of my goal to put up a lesson every month.
I have receive an average of one email or comment on this blog every two or three months. That is encouraging but . . . believe me, it is lots of work and I am not sure I can handle this alone. If there is anyone who knows Plautdietsch and can give me a hand, it will be absolutely appreciated. If you dont know Plautdietsch but you think a course like the one pretended is necessary, let me know. If you have been checking in periodically just to be dissapointed time after time . . . drop me a note. If, on the other hand, you think it is not worth all the work . . . let me know too.

- Born 1971 in a conservative Mennonite environment, I have always been interested in learning languages. At age 24, I moved out of Mennoland searching for opportunities of a better life for myself. After living a few years away from the Mennonite community, traditions and lifestyle, people started asking about many things, about Mennonites and that is how I started studying and researching one part of them: the language. I was surprised of many of my findings, so I have tried to share them with people who would like to know about this language, perhaps one of the least studied of the world, which has puzzled many.

Please post when you have time!! I too am interested. It is my 75 yr old fathers native tongue. Since his family is dead except for him (he spoke it last with his mother) he has forgotten much of it. He began to teach me as a child but life soon took over and he quit. I only remember a few words. (I'm 47 now!)So please don't give up. I am not Mennonite as my grandparents left the church before I was born. But I still am interested in the language.

I am very interested. growing up in a community where most people spoke low german I can still understand it but I am finding that I am losing the language that I would like to pass on to my kids someday.
